Wunder is now Mearra

We are happy to announce we are taking back our very first name and are proud to introduce our updated brand to all of you. What we do will not change, but how we present ourselves will. Read from this article how!

What & When

Wunder has taken back its first and original name, Mearra. While our brand identity is evolving, our Business ID (Y-tunnus) remains unchanged. All necessary practical changes and the full brand transition will be implemented during Q2 2026. For our clients, this means total legal and operational continuity.

Our new slogan is, Business. People. Tech. Together. It emphasises our will to achieve results through business understanding, humane collaboration and deep technical ability—without business jargon, “overwords,” or hype. We appreciate keeping things real and meaningful.

”Returning to our original name is more than a rebrand – it’s a statement of who we’ve always been. And we are just getting started! We will soon be unveiling our new process model for business development tailored for the AI era, alongside expanding our core verticals, such as media and education, even further internationally.” – CEO and founder, Vesa Palmu

Why

This name change is a natural step in our return to our roots. We are proud of our excellence in delivery, technical depth, and unwavering commitment to our partners.

The foundation for this “new era” was set in early 2025, when the founders repurchased the company. Since then, we have proven our formula: 2025 was the most financially successful year in our company’s history. We are growing sustainably and confidently. While there are dozens of IT companies using the word “Wunder,” there is only one Mearra. Returning to this unique name allows us to stand out as the specialised strategic partner we have always been.

Mearra means sea in Northern Sámi language, and prior to taking back the original name, we collaborated with the Cultural Secretary of The Sami Parliament in Finland (Sámediggi) and ensured using a word from Northern Sámi language does not violate their cultural heritage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Does this change affect our contracts, invoicing or email addresses?

Mostly no effect. Our Business ID (Y-tunnus) will remain the same, so the change will have no impact on existing contracts. However, the company’s official primary name will change from Wunder Finland Oy to Mearra Finland Oy, and invoices will be sent to our clients with the new name from the beginning of May. Email addresses will change, but full redirect from @wunder.io mails is on

When exactly does this happen?

The transition is phased throughout Q2 2026, starting from the 21st of April. You will see our visual identity and email addresses change during this period. If you already follow us on social media, you will notice the name change and new brand, but no actions need to be taken from your side.

How does this benefit our partnership?

As a 100% founder-owned company, we are more agile and committed to long-term success than a traditional tech vendor. Our record-breaking financial results in 2025 ensure we have the stability and capacity to invest in the future of your business.

Will my contact person change?

No. Your project teams and account managers remain the same. Our experts across Finland and the Baltics continue their work normally.

Why the name Mearra?

Mearra is our original name from the early days of our company. It was chosen by our founders to honor the sea as a powerful element. We were drawn to the word Mearra, which means ‘sea’ in the Northern Sámi language. The harsh, demanding conditions of the Arctic Sea inspire us—they represent determination, stamina, and the vital importance of collaboration. Why a Northern Sámi word? Because the Sámi people were the first to call these northern shores home. By returning to our roots as Mearra, we pay tribute to that heritage. Prior to taking back the original name, we collaborated with the Cultural Secretary of The Sami Parliament in Finland (Sámediggi) and ensured using a word from Northern Sámi language does not violate their cultural heritage.

What should we expect from the future with Mearra?

Expect a partner who is even more willing and capable of being proactive. We are committed to doing what we have always done—only more and even better. We have multiple strategic initiatives already ongoing, such as the Mearra Method for delivery excellence and close collaboration with the international Drupal Community regarding AI. Our goal is to utilize AI in a controlled, sustainable, and responsible manner to drive your business goals forward.
