Mearra's story
Founded in 2010 by business and open technology experts in Northern Europe, Mearra was created to genuinely partner with clients through a deep passion for technology. For multiple years we were known as Wunder.
Today, we are back with the name Mearra, and our core has remained unchanged all these years. Instead of just navigating the digital landscape, we clear the path, providing the capability and momentum our partners need to evolve with confidence.
We exist to dismantle complexity, working towards outcomes that matter even when conditions change. We're here for the challenges that require grit, technical depth, and an understanding of both business and humans. When you say it's difficult, we say: 'Where?'
Through various names and chapters, our internal compass has never shifted. We began at the dawn of the open-source era, and today, we meet the AI revolution with the same depth of expertise and enthusiasm. By returning to the name Mearra, we are moving closer to the foundation we never left. Together with our clients, we clear the path—empowering growth and exceeding targets through the potential of digital.
Today, we have close to 100 Mearrans working in multiple offices and home offices in the Nordics and in Central Europe. We excel in not just building the solutions, but also in advising our clients how to make the most of the digital and AI in their operations.
Why the name Mearra?
Mearra is the first and original name of the company, chosen by our founders to honour the sea as a powerful element. We were drawn to the word Mearra, which means 'sea' in the Northern Sámi language.
The harsh, demanding conditions of the Arctic Sea inspire us—they represent determination, stamina, and the vital importance of collaboration. Why a Northern Sámi word? Because the Sámi people were the first to call these northern shores home. By returning to our roots as Mearra, we pay tribute to that heritage.
